Toyota RAV4 & Lexus HS 250h Recall Lawsuit Overview

The Lexus HS 250h is a hybrid vehicle introduced by Lexus, a subsidiary of Toyota. It was introduced in 2009 as an entry-level luxury compact sedan. The HS 250h represented the first dedicated hybrid vehicle in the Lexus lineup, as well as the first offered with an inline four gasoline engine. However, between late May and early June 2012, Lexus removed the HS 250h from its U.S. sales lineup and confirmed that production of the model had ceased.

The RAV4 is a crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) developed and manufactured by Toyota. It was the first compact crossover SUV introduced in Japan and Europe in 1994. The revolutionary design of the RAV4 reached the United States in 1996. Its name stands for “Recreational Active Vehicle with 4-wheel drive” and was designed for consumers who desired the benefits of SUV along with the maneuverability and better fuel economy of a smaller car.

Unfortunately, RAV4s made between 2006 and 2011 may have a propensity for failure due to a design flaw. Furthermore, Lexus HS 250h models made in 2010 may be susceptible to similar flaws. According to Toyota, improper tightening of the rear suspension nuts on both vehicles may lead to rust and the subsequent loss of the suspension arms from the car. In the event that these arms become separated from the automobile, occupants may be placed in dangerous situations with potentially fatal impactions. Toyota has already received reports of nine crashes resulting in three minor injuries as a result of the improper tightening of rear suspension components.

In response to the influx of adverse events, the manufacturer has recently initiated a Toyota RAV4 & Lexus HS 250h recall that consists of approximately 778,000 cars. Toyota has stated that it is currently in the process of developing a fix for the problem, and will notify customers when it’s time to take their vehicles to the dealership for a free repair. In the mean time, company representatives are advising drivers affected by this recall to contact their dealers immediately if they hear an abnormal sound in the rear of the vehicle. If you were injured in a crash by one of these vehicles, you may be eligible to file a Toyota RAV4 & Lexus HS 250h recall lawsuit.
