About the Firm

The Senators (Ret.) Firm, LLP was founded by former California State Senators Joe Dunn and Martha Escutia. Senators Dunn and Escutia started their law and consulting practice after serving a combined 22 years as lawmakers and are recognized still today for their powerful influence in national and statewide issues. They had a vision of creating a law firm that combines a comprehensive understanding of and access to key legislative and regulatory channels with a top flight complex litigation and civil trial practice. To that end, they joined with Thomas M. Moore and Ronald T. Labriola, who bring decades of experience in litigating high stakes cases all over the nation.

During their tenure, Senators Escutia and Dunn were appointed to many of the key positions in the California Legislature, including chairmanships of the Senate Judiciary Committee (Escutia and Dunn) , the Senate Investigations Committee (Joe), and the Energy, Commerce and Telecommunications Committee (Escutia). Both also have vast experience outside government representing clients as partners at several of the nation’s most prominent private law firms.
