Eagle Produce Cantaloupe Recall Overview

New York agriculture officials, on behalf of the USDA, were alerted to a potential Salmonella bacteria contamination of Eagle Produce cantaloupe products during a routine inspection. The cantaloupes in question were shipped from Eagle Produce’s distribution center out of Scottsdale, Arizona to upstate New York in late May. The recall involves 1,760 cartons of cantaloupe that were sold at Sam’s Club stores in Johnstown, N.Y., and Pottsville, Pa., between Jun 2 and 17.

Each cardboard carton, in which the contents contain nine melons, boasts a Kandy logo in white with the word ‘Cantaloupes’ in white lettering on a red background. Each carton has a lot code of 147 and a count of 9 printed on the side. Each melon bears a Kandy sticker with the words ‘Cantaloupe USA’.

Due to the potential dangers associated with the contaminated cantaloupe and Salmonella bacteria poisoning, consumers who have come in contact with the produce may file an Eagle Produce cantaloupe recall lawsuit.

In rare and dangerous circumstances, Salmonella poisoning can result in the organism entering the bloodstream and producing a more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
