OCDA Turns to Public to Identify Additional Victims in Molestation Case

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is now appealing to the public for help in identifying additional victims of Shauna Marie Sims. Sims is the former special education teacher at Parks Junior High School in Fullerton and has been charged five felony counts related to molestation and abuse accusations involving two students. Officials now believe there is a possibility of more victims who have yet to come forward.

According to the OCDA, the alleged crimes took place between June and September of 2014. Sims’ charges include three performing lewd acts upon a child between the ages of 14 and 15, one felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse, and one misdemeanor count of child annoyance. If convicted, she faces five years in prison and additional jail time.

The OCDA press release does mention how additional charges could affect the case or the potential punishments. The Brea Police Department is still investigating the matter while Sims is out on $30,000 bail.

Victims Called to Come Forward

Thus far, two male victims, ages 14 and 16, have been identified in the case. Neither of the boys were students of Sims or of Parks Junior High School, but have been identified as “minor students” in the OCDA press release. Additional victims or individuals with more information on this matter are encouraged in the press release to contact the OCDA or the Brea Police Department.
