Overview

On April 28, 2011, the manufacturer of the product known as Regenerect™ Natural Male Erectile Stimulant recalled this product from the nationwide market after the FDA revealed that the product actually contained the prescription drug Sulfoaildenafil, which is an analogue of the drug Sildenafil. See the FDA’s press release here. These prescription drugs are used to treat erectile dysfunction and can cause dangerously low blood pressure and other dangerous side effects.

What’s the problem?

The inclusion of Sulfoaildenafil in Regenerect™ poses a serious health threat to consumers. This prescription medication can cause blood pressure to drop to dangerously low levels, especially when consumers are not told that the product contains this dangerous drug.

Additionally, the undisclosed inclusion of a dangerous prescription medication in a product that claims to be a safe and all natural dietary supplement is a fraudulent business practice that financially injures consumers who purchase the product. Consumers buy dietary supplements because consumers believe them to be dietary supplements (as opposed to prescription drugs) and because consumers believe them to be safe and effective. Yet, many manufacturers actually spike their products with undisclosed prescription drugs so that the otherwise ineffective products appear to be effective. As a result of this outright fraud, consumers spend their hard-earned money on what they believe to be a safe and effective dietary supplement only to receive a product that actually contains a dangerous prescription drug.
